 The final club championship round of 2017 was well attended with 27 riders competing for the last chance to get some series points before the club champions are presented next weekend.
The weather was in our favour with a mild day, even the sand flies and mozzies came along! Before proceedings got underway there was our Annual General Meeting to get through which started at 9.00am and this was also well attended by parents and friends which was fantastic to see. There were a few changes that were proposed for next year aswell as the election of the new committee. Congratulations to the outgoing committee for their hard work and commitment this year and a big WELCOME and THANKYOU to the new committee for the upcoming 2018 season..... Now onto the riding...The 50cc’s was our largest group with 9 riders. They led the day with bending followed by orange, ring return, ring bending, footing and non footing clover and accelerate and brake. 85cc SW hustled for places with 5 riders all placing throughout the day. All other classes had 4 riders and kept the marshals' jobs easy with heat finals. The burgers and sausages, as always were well received at lunchtime and despite the late start due to the AGM we were still able to get onto the Minicross track straight after lunch and complete 2 full motos in each class. As leaders changed positions and riders finished within seconds of their team mates, there was plenty of excitement right up until the very last race of the day. While the competition side of things drew to a close for another year. There was one more last Hornsby traditional Lap of Honour by our graduating riders and an opportunity to farewell a number of other riders who will not be returning in 2018. Some families have been with our club for most 15 years. Your passion for the sport and leadership example for the younger riders has been outstanding and will be missed.
