"Amazing, muddy, fun, wet, fun, hard work and fun” These were some of the words used by a few of our riders after last weekend (Did we mention fun?)
The weekend of 6th and 7th of July were a busy and fun weekend for our Hornsby riders who attended the JT Enduro series. Although the rain stayed away during both days the night rain made for a muddy and challenging track which bought smiles to faces. (And washing!) The two day event began early on Saturday morning after a lot of work from the JT club setting up 3 tracks with challenges and obstacles, one for the nippers, one for 50cc and Miniwheels and one for the 65 cc and 85 cc bikes. This meant plenty of riding for the kids and for some ex riders and parents who helped out with sweep riding. After a sighting lap each morning the riders completed a prologue lap of the loop which were timed using transponders. This allocated each rider a place for their first loop for the day with riders moving off with 40 seconds in between each bike. It wasn't long between loops before they were back out and negotiating the track once again after each lap. On the first day the small track riders completed approx. 15 timed loops and the big track riders, around 7. The second day came with more challenging riding as the overnight rain had created muddier sections of the track. Basically, the kids rode until the track became 'unridable' by approx. 2pm. All tracks called it a day by this time which left time for the raffle draw and presentation. (I think the older sweep riders were quite happy with the early finish!). Congratulations to all the Hornsby riders who showed skill, commitment and a great attitude. The following Hornsby riders were presented with a trophy at the end of the series; 50cc – 1st #5 and 3rd #25 Miniwheels 1st #17, 2nd #45, 3rd #8 65cc – 3rd #150 85JBW – 2nd #91 and 3rd #191 A huge thanks to JT for hosting this event. It gave our riders a chance to practice for the upcoming interclub which is an Enduro event and build on their skills as well as meet up with riders from other clubs and have fun. Once again we have a great selection of photos of the weekend thanks to Steve Jackson...click here to see if you can spot yourself having fun in the mud! Name: Tyla

A new Series began last Sunday 23rd June for our growing Club. 37 Hornsby members were up with the birds and kitted up for the day to be ready to compete for some fun and some points for the first round of Series 2.
After quite a bit of rain the event areas were in need of smoothing out from our trusty Bobcat drivers to ensure all areas were safe and competition ready for all riders. This created good conditions (not too dry, not too muddy) for some awesome close racing and competing in all events. Most of our groups had different winners across the events with the final results of the day being extremely close! A great day for those who were able to spectate and most importantly for the riders themselves. Events for the day included footed clover, accelR8, slow, bending, orange, ring return and mini cross. The standard of riding is continually improving, as is the sportsmanship, persistence, courage and friendship we encourage amongst the riders. Although the rain teased throughout the day we armed all our marshals with umbrellas which ensured the rain held off until racing was over! The winners for the day included; 50cc Auto - 1st Sienna #32 MiniWheels - 1st Joel #45 65cc - 1st Beau #98 85cc - 1st Byron #61 JBW - 1st Alex #24 We had 5 nippers again today: Harper #93 Coby #177 Jaxon #20 Saul #42 Ryder #823 George #124 The full results have been uploaded to the club website or you can click here to see where you ended up on the day. Also our trusty photographer Steve was out and about again today to capture some of the action. See if you can spot yourself amongst the days racing! All the photos have been uploaded to the ‘gallery’ page on the website or you can click here. Congratulations to all riders that competed on the day and also a big thankyou to our officials & marshals. We look forward to seeing you at the next event which is Rnd4 of the Interclub Series at Junior Trials Gwandalan on Sunday 21st July. Go Hornsby!!! |
