Last Sunday the 23rd July was the Baulkham Hills Regional held at Horsley Park. The early rise made for a cold start to the day however when the sun came up it warmed us all up and melted the frost and Hornsby were ready to ride. With over 20 Hornsby riders prepped and ready to represent the HJDBC on the well-organized track which included two mini-cross tracks, one for senior riders and a smaller track for the junior riders. The events for the day included Orange, Looping, Slow, Non-Footing Clover, Acceler8, Ring Return and Mini-cross. There were approx. 180 riders in total across 7 clubs. 50 of these were nippers, the largest ever group in a Minikhana Interclubs. The marshals and parents ensure all the nippers were able to experience both Minicross, and some of the other events such as slow, orange and bending in a non-competitive environment. It was great to see so many little riders so eager to do well in this sport. Most of the groups were getting through the events smoothly however as the day went on the conditions of the track and some of the event areas began to get very dry and dusty which created some very tricky conditions for the riders to negotiate. Some of the groups had already completed most their events before lunch with only a small number of races left to finish in the second half of the day, riding was over by approx 3pm, which left enough time for the raffle to be drawn and then the final trophy presentation. Congrats to our Podium Winners Mini Wheels Kye #04 65cc Ben #580 85ccSW Sam #279 A big pat on the back to Hornsby riders Sam and Kye who will be upgraded to B and A grade for there Podiums. Well done to all those who attended and supported the Hornsby club, we would also like to thank all the members for their help in marshalling for the day and would also like to thank Baulkham Hills club on hosting yet another fantastic regional event. Check out all the action in our gallery here. A big thanks to Gilly from KMW for the fantastic photos. Coming Up this weekend: Junior Trials Frank Purcell RD 1 Enduro Series Details below - This Sunday 30/7 Online entries to this event can be found here. Sunday 2nd July was the 4th & final round of our series 1 competition with a total of 23 riders attending to gain as many points as they could to finish off before we go into series 2. Although it was also one of the coldest mornings we’ve had in a while the temperature set to heat up as there were still plenty of points on offer and a chance for riders to gain extra points toward the overall club championship. As things were beginning to thaw out, the bikes were being srutineered, the bacon and eggs rolls were cooked, the mums and dads dosed up on warm coffee and the event areas were all set up and riders briefing was underway. With all the formalities out of the way by approx 9.30am riders & marshals could make their way down to their allocated event area and racing could finally start. The event areas were in great condition which made for some really close racing. All riders and marshals were hard at work getting through the 7 events planned which included slow, orange, bending, ring bending, accelerate & brake, clover and non footing clover. Harper & Danny flew the flag for the nippers this week and they were both able to team up with the 50 autos to get a taste of what real competition is really like. Both showed great potential and growth...watch out 50ccs! Once again the near perfect conditions enabled riders to breeze through the roped events in the first part of the day allowing enough time to get 2 siting laps of the minicross track done before lunch. After another great BBQ lunch and a quick re-fuel of the bikes riders made their way down to the minicross track. To start things off the nippers were the first to test the conditions of the shorter minicross track while the rest of the groups followed on. The track was holding up well with just a few minor ruts appearing and of course the usual boggy sections towards the back end of the track. The racing was thoroughly entertaining throughout each class and well done to all riders especially for those that made the podium. Results for this round are: 50cc Beau #798 65cc Ben #580 Mini Wheels Kye #04 85ccSW Sam #279 85cc BW Brad #25 A big thank you to the parents, marshals and officials for keeping the day running so smoothly. The next event on the calendar is the Baulkham Hills Regional on the 23rd July at Horsley Park. Go Hornsby! |
