Sunny skies, moderate temperatures and impeccably prepared grounds and event areas greeted riders for the first round of the Regional Minikhana Series for 2015 at Horsley Park.
Blacktown members should be proud of the preparation of the grounds for the inaugural round of the 2015 series, providing clean and well groomed event areas that produced some great racing. 15 Hornsby Members competed on the day in all classes, with some great results. As the day progressed, so did the medal tally as delighted riders arrived back from events with smiles and stories to share and compare. Occasional frowns were to be seen at times but were generally few and far between. Some high cloud cover developed later in the day bringing the temperature back down but did not stop the fierce competition. As we came to the close of the day, final points were tallied and left the Hornsby Club in 4th position overall. Helping us to that position on the Club Leaderboard were the following results: 50cc B grade: Ben #50 - 1st 50cc A grade: Will #693 - 2nd Miniwheel B grade: Declan #9 - 3rd Miniwheel A grade: Ethan #38 - 3rd Miniwheel A grade: Mateo #31 - 2nd 85cc SW A grade: Carly #41 - 2nd 85cc JBW A grade: Matt #262 - 2nd Well done to all members for their great sportsmanship, camaraderie and positive attitudes. You always do our club proud and look great in your riding jerseys. Keep up the good work and the great riding. The next round of the Minikhana series will be on May 3rd, when the Hornsby club hosts round 2 at the Junior Trials club grounds in Gwandalan, Central Coast. To make this event as successful as it has been in the past, we NEED ALL MEMBERS to help out wherever you can. An open committee meeting will be held on Wednesday night, April 22nd at the Dural Country Club starting at 7pm. All members are encouraged to come along and listen to what the committee is trying to achieve and need to do to run our regional event. With the new format in place of only one series and being able to drop your worst round, 31 competitors turned up for round 2 of the club championship.
Rain the day before and drizzle on the day helped keep the dust down but also kept riders bikes dirty. After a huge effort by members on previous working bee days, the clubs grounds were in tip top shape, except for the clover area that is still under a revamp. However, members still got to compete in seven events, that got them ready for the first regional event to be held next weekend at Blacktown. Whilst this may have been the first round of competition for many riders, the enthusiasm and determination to come and have a good day shone through proving that it is all about having a good time, no matter the result. With that said, riders who rose to the top of the podium for the day were: 1st 50cc Auto: Ben #50 1st Miniwheels: Mateo #31 1st 65cc: Brad #444 1st 85cc SW: Will #8 A special mention goes to all our nippers that had a great day of riding, Linc #62, Aria #11, Matilda #16, Indiana #79, Tyler #211, Sienna #52 and Ashlyn #256. Well done to you all for coming along for the day and having a go and well done to the number of girl riders! Our next event will be a practice day on April 12th. Gates open at 8am with canteen and a BBQ on sale. Good Luck to all members riding for the Hornsby Junior Dirtbike Club next weekend at the first Regional Minikhana event for the year at Blacktown Club's grounds at Horsley Park. |
