Sunday saw a relaxed atmosphere down at the Hornsby club with an all day Enduro fun day. We enjoyed a slightly later start than usual however with the track already set up from the previous working bee riders were able to get riding by approx 10am. The format of the day was fairly simple with riders lining up at the start of the loop at event area 1 and then each rider set off with approx 10 - 20 sec gap intervals. We also had dads as sweep riders riding with the kids to make sure there were no fallen riders and to also help out in the tricky conditions when needed. We also had some marshals scattered throughout the bush at the cut off points to help guide the riders around the track. The loop consisted of some familiar sections of the Minicross track and some established tight single trails that have been used on past enduro days. Riders had the option to ride the full 1.4km loop or they could use the ‘cut off’ section for a much shorter loop. They also had the option to take a great little ‘new’ section of trail that was very technical in spots and then linked up to the main track. Thanks to all the parents marshals and officials who helped run the day and also a big thanks to the parents who attended the working bee the day before to help setup the course with bunting and prepare the grounds for the day. And finally thanks to the sweep riders who also helped make the day run safely, it was hard to tell who had the biggest grin on their faces, the kids or the dads!. We now have a two week break before our next round of the club championship to be held on Sunday 3rd September. Sunday 6th August was first round of Series 2 competition and yet we were blessed with another beautiful sunny day. With Series 1 done and dusted riders were now able to re-focus and start series 2 in the best possible way. There was a good contingent of riders with a total of 32 turning up on the day and we also had a couple of new members completing their kickstart training along side of the regular competition. Our events for the day included Footing and non-footing clover, Accelerate & brake, Figure 8, Slow, Bending, Looping, Ring bending and Minicross. The event areas were looking great with the previous weeks rain settling the ground nicely however ruts quickly formed which provided challenging conditions to some riders but overall the standard of riding this weekend was a good measure of the hard work and determination put in throughout the year. It was also great to see some of our newer members really getting the hang of Minikhana and also getting some good results. Results for this round are: Nippers - 4 happy riders - Harper, Keira, Sienna & Danny 50cc Beau #798 65cc Ben #580 Mini Wheels Kye #04 85ccSW Sam #279 85cc BW Will #48 Once again a big thank you to the parents, marshals and officials for yet another top days riding and keeping things running smoothly. We have our Working Bee on this Saturday followed by our Enduro fun day on Sunday. If you can spare an hour or 2 on Saturday it would be much appreciated. Following that we have the JT Regional on the 20th August, we look forward to seeing as many Hornsby members at both of these events as possible. |
