he weekend of November 17,18 & 19 saw our club travel to the Louee MX & Enduro complex once again for our annual Xmas party and end of year presentation. With the 2017 season coming to a close this is always a great trip for our members to enjoy 3 days of un-interupted riding with the friends and family and not have to worry about the competition side of things for a while. As usual there was another good turn out of people this year as the Hornsby club had most of the accommodation booked out for the entire weekend. The campsite was looking busy as it slowly started to fill with cars & trailers and gazebos popped up out of nowhere. Some even took advantage of the time off and travelled up on Thursday night to make sure they could get the maximum amount of riding in for the weekend. The conditions were favourable on Friday with all MX tracks in great condition, our riders were sampling everything that Louee has to offer and rode non-stop until they ran out fo fuel or....By the afternoon we had some thunderstorms roll in which helped cool things down after quite a hot day. Saturday was looking to be a completey different story as we had steady rain set in from approx 5.30 am onwards. This didn’t stop any of our riders though, the bikes were again pulled out of the storage shed, re-fueled maybe some kids might have put on a jacket to keep dry and off they went. The track conditions were poor at best but the grins on all the faces remained and by around midday the rain had stopped and then the track started to dry which brought even more riders out. Unfortunately one of our riders Kye #04 gave us a scare with an ‘off’ on the Mt Turkey track, he was taken to hospital for check ups and fortunately given the all clear. A big thanks to Tom and his crew and the local medics for their care. We were all happy to see Kye return to the track later that evening. The presentations kicked off with a fantastic BBQ dinner which went down very well after such a physical and demanding day on the bikes. and some of the trophy presentations are as follows: The regional Minikhana Achievement awards: 1st - Sam #279 2nd - Ben #580 3rd - Jack #170 Most Improved Rider 2015: Byron #61 Overall Club Champion: 1st Beau #798 2nd Will #48 3rd Ben #580 Full Throttle Award -100% attendance and Sportsmanship: Jack #170 Beau #798 Will #48 Also a big Congrats to our Life Member inductees Jeff and Carlie and also a big thankyou to all the outgoing committee members. Your contribution over the past few years has been outstanding and we hope to follow in your footsteps and keep this great club moving forward.
