The calm before the storm! A record was set today as 47 (the most riders ever in one day) attended Round 4 of Series 2 to complete the competition rounds for 2019. The afternoon storm predicted kept away until after all the riding was done but created a very hot and steamy day for the events.
The day began with the Annual General Meeting when the 2019 committee was dissolved, and the 2020 committee was voted in. Congratulations to all outgoing, continuing and new committee members. A special mention to the Brandes, Pezzuto and Johnson families who were recognized as life members for their outstanding contributions to the club over many years. The events run for the day to complete the series were; orange, looping, slow, ring return, accelerate and brake, footed clover and minicross. Every event was dry and dusty with the minicross after lunch particularly hard to navigate with the amount of dust created. Of course our skilled riders didn't skip a beat and “got on with the show” putting on a great day of riding and socializing. During the morning AGM some of the club achievements for 2019 were presented, there were many. The most significant was probably the number of riders who have joined the club this year. Hornsby have a knack for welcoming new families and all riders were acknowledged for the amount they have improved throughout the year. Congratulations to all riders, parents, grandparents and friends who make our club a fabulous one. You can check out some of the action shots here. Results for the day were: Nippers: #100 Hudson #601 Tiana #282 Saba #42 Saul #20 Jaxon #720 Mateo 50cc - 1st #32 MW - 1st #17 65cc - 1st #150 85cc - 1st #61 JBW - 1st #04 A full list of the days results can be found here. Our final event for 2019 season is coming up on the weekend of 22nd - 24th Nov and it will be held at Louee MX & Enduro complex. We will also be holding our presentation on the Sat night. Hope to see a great turn out again this year to help celebrate what a great year 2019 has been for our club! Go Hornsby!!!!! The heat was on for the Minikhana State Cup on Saturday the 19th and Sunday 20th October. As representatives from Penrith, JT, Baulkham Hills, Sutherland, Blacktown and Hornsby came together, the friendly rivalry between the clubs began. It was Hornsby's turn to run the event this year and what an amazing job the committee did. With all hands on deck the two days ran smoothly, like a well-oiled machine. A huge thanks to Penrith Miniclub for allowing Hornsby to use their track for the event. The conditions were hot and dry this year which made some events quite slippery, just to add an extra challenge in! Riders competed in 6 events each day which covered all the Minikhana events and giving the riders an opportunity to do Minicross both days. Our demo riders had lots of opportunity to ride with some event areas set up especially for them and the small Minicross made available for them after lunch. Our 65cc and Miniwheel classes were all big, competitive groups as were our 85cc SW & BW classes. The usual riders briefing, scrutineering and sign-on got underway each morning (not to mention the essential coffee) but the big attraction this year was the raffle of a Kawasaki KLX 110 motorbike as the major prize. Everyone had their “eyes on the prize.” Well done to the lucky Blacktown rider who won this at the end of the Sunday, as well as all the other prize winners. HJDBC appreciates the support of all who took their chance at a win and bought tickets over the weekend. As usual the last event of the weekend was the 85cc BW Minicross providing entertainment and inspiration for all the younger riders and parents and for the many marshals who had been busy all weekend. The riders showed great skill and sportsmanship as they negotiated the dry track and the extra numbers on the start line! A highlight for the Hornsby club at the end of Sunday’s competition was the announcement that they were the overall winners of the 2019 Interclub series finishing on the top step 2 years in a row! In total Hornsby had 45 riders attend the day which was a great turn out for such a small club. Congratulations to all the riders for attending and well done to the riders making the podium. Hornsby riders competed well all weekend with the following riders taking out a podium places. Congratulations to: JBW A grade - Kye #04 - 2nd 85 C grade - Jett #37 - 1st 85 B grade - Samual #106 - 2nd 65 A grade - Beau #98 - 3rd 65 C grade - Justin #415 - 2nd 65 C grade - Joshua #116 - 3rd MW A grade - Chad #17 - 1st MW C grade - Lorenzo #611 - 3rd And also a big congrats to our state title winners: JBW A grade - Declan #91 - 1st 65cc A Grade - Sam #150 - 2nd 65cc A Grade - Beau #98 - 3rd MW A Grade - Chad #17 - 2nd This event was a huge weekend for our club and one that our committee and all it's members can be proud of. A huge thanks to all involved, but especially to our riders for their support of each other and to the parents & families that help get the kids to the competition week in and week out, you are what makes this club a great club. Also a big thankyou to Steve Jackson our unofficial Hornsby photographer. Steve was out amongst all the action on both days taking some amazing photos all of which can be seen here: Day 1. Day 2. |
