Hornsby Hornsby Hornsby! These were the words we heard at the presentation at the end of the Baulkham Hills Regional.
On Sunday 19th May 37 Hornsby riders travelled to Horsley Park to compete against all the other Minikhana clubs at the Baulkham Hills Regional. There was a good mixture of experienced and new riders, some riding in their very first ever regional. The usual comraderey was evident amongst the Hornsby club with all the riders looking out for each other. Today's events included; Figure8, Slow, Bending, Ring Return, Non Footing Clover, MiniCross and Orange. The 2 x largest competition groups for the day were Mini Wheels C grade with a massive 32 riders & 65cc C grade with a healthy 23 riders. As per usual there was another great showing of nippers with 42 eager riders ready to go in that group. Both the large & small Mini cross tracks had some new sections added which many of our riders were testing for the first time. The hard packed conditions caught out a number of riders but thankfully there were no major incidents with some very close battles all through the day. At times a couple of the corners got quite dusty and needed to be watered regularly throughout the day... There was a large raffle on offer at the end of the day with lots of happy kids going home with new dirt bike gear..thanks Baulkham Hills. Congratulations to all riders for attending. It’s been a fantastic start to the year with so many existing and new members turning up to ride week in week out and thanks to all the helpers throughout the year for your continued support of the club. Up next we have the Baulkham Hills Minikhana Interclub on Sunday 19th May. Entries close this Thursday so if you haven’t already entered please do so here! asap. We’d love to see as many of you there as possible. Go Hornsby!!! On Sunday many Hornsby riders ended their school holidays on a high by competing in the Minikhana Come and Try day held as a Motorcross event at Dargle Farm. This event gave the Minikhana kids a taste of Motorcross with most groups racing 20 on the grid.
The early start to the day meant the grass was frosty however the sun shone throughout the day creating a beautiful warm day for great riding and spectating. once all riders were signed on and the cows were moved off the track the kids all did some siting laps and got to know the bumps and grooves on the track as many of them were riding this track for the first time. Each class then had 3 x 3 lap races and points were accumulated for an overall winner. A few of our riders were combined with other grades so C grade riders were racing against A grade riders to maximise the grids and all them showed great skill and sportsmanship on the track. As always the Hornsby kids also shined off the track. The way these kids support each other and look out for each other is to be commended. The Hornsby parents are always proud of our crew! Well done to all the riders that competed on the day and congratulations to those that were able to take home a trophy and also a big thank you to all the Mum's and Dads that volunteered to marshal, and a HUGE Thank You to the sports committee that ran the event! |
