Over 50 riders endured the warm weather and dusty track last Sunday as both Kuringai Mini Wheels and HJDBC joined for the second time this year to compete in the Mini Cross event only. KMW hosted the event at the Hornsby track. The morning was warmer than usual but that didn't stop the usual morning routine of scrutineering, signing on, lunch orders in, raffle tickets bought and riders briefing. With the list ticked off the two clubs enjoyed 5 rounds of friendly rivalry with most rounds getting in 3 lap heats and finishing with a 2 lap dash at the end of the day. The track was watered down both at the beginning of the day and at lunchtime but with such little rain recently it was still a very dusty ride! Podiums for the day included: Nippers: Harper #93 2nd 50cc - Beau #798 1st MW - Kye #04 2nd MW - Lucy #34 3rd MW - Jacob #19 1st 65cc Will #693 2nd 65cc - Byron #61 3rd 65cc - Noah # 936 3rd 85cc SW - Will #693 1st 85cc BW - Will #48 1st 85cc BW - Jack #151 2nd 85cc BW - Ella #855 3rd 85cc BW - Ewan #222 Overall Podiums for the series: 1st 50cc - Beau #798 1st MW - Kye #04 2nd MW - Jacob #19 3rd MW Lucy #34 1st 65cc - Noah #936 2nd 65cc - Jack #170 3rd 65cc - Ben #580 2nd 85cc SW - Alex #24 1st 85cc BW - Ella #855 2nd 85cc BW - Jack #151 3rd 85cc BW Ewan #222 Once again a big thankyou to all that helped make the day possible, to the officials and marshals whom endured the dust all day long and to the riders for putting on another great spectacle of racing for the day both Hornsby & Kuringai. Also a big thanks to Gilly Harriott from KMW for taking the time to take these fantastic photos and for also sharing them with us. More action shots can be found here. AND finally well done Hornsby riders for taking another round win and Series win for 2017 GO HORNSBY! The next event on the calendar is Rnd 2 & 3 of the Frank Purcell Enduro with JT & KMW at Gwandalan on the 7th & 8th October. Entry to this event can be found on the home page. 'Go Hornsby!' We were all pleased to hear this in many of the podium presentations at the Sutherland Interclub last Sunday. All our riders' dedication and hard work paid off with the club coming third place overall in the seventh and final round of the State Minkhana series held at the Sutherland PCYC club on Sunday 17th September 2017. The day started bright and early with sign on, scrutineering and riders briefing. The morning excitement was in the surprise element in each show bag! The events got underway nice and early with a full demo class leading the pack. Well done Harper #93, our only Hornsby demo rider for this meet. The other classes slowly made their way through the six events; footing clover, accelerate and brake, ring return, orange, bending and mini cross. Great sportsmanship was always shown by the Hornsby riders. With a lunchtime breaking up the day the events were all complete by about 3.30pm with a few classes needing to go to a runoff to decide winners. The raffle and presentation completed the day with many Hornsby riders taking away a podium place, some riders for the first time at an interclub and some only missing out by a point or two. The competition was alive! Riders on the podium: 50cc C Grade 1st Charlie #23 50cc C Grade 2nd Lincoln #62 50cc A Grade 3rd Beau #798 65cc A Grade 2nd Ben #580 65cc A Grade 3rd Jack #170 MW C Grade 1st Lucy #34 MW A Grade 3rd Kye #04 85cc SW C Grade 1st Alex #24 85cc SW B Grade 3rd Sam #279 The final of the Minikhana Series for 2017 will be the State Minikhana Titles hosted by Penrith and will be at their grounds at Castlereagh on the 21st and 22nd of October. Camping will be available on the Friday and Saturday evenings. Entries are now open for this great event and can be found here and Supp Regs are also available here. Good luck to all members in the final competitions for 2017, Hornsby Junior Dirt Bike Club are proud of you! Sunday was a Happy Father's Day for all the HJDBC Dads who were able to attend Series 2, Round 2 as the sun shone for a great round. Who wouldn't want to spend Father's Day fueling bikes and changing spark plugs? The day began with coffee as usual to ensure everyone was ready for the day, bikes scrutineered, riders briefing done and two groups were formed for the morning events. The nippers, 50cc's and Mini-wheels teamed up to compete in the same event areas and the 65cc's and 85cc's worked together on other event areas. Thanks to the efficient marshaling all events; ring return, bending, orange, accler8, accelerate and brake, footing and non-footing clover were all complete before lunch which allowed time for citing laps on the mini-cross track as well. A good break was had by all at lunchtime including a special birthday celebration for our club president. Happy Birthday to Jeff. A huge thanks from all club members and riders for all you do for our club. With a much warmer day than usual riders enjoyed the extra break but were refueled on lunch (and cake) to get out and race on the track. All races were heat finals so two rounds were fit in easily for the afternoon. The dry weather also bought tough riding conditions with a dusty track making it hard for some riders to even see where they were going and a few riders stalling in the sand. There were plenty of action packed races though with each round of racing giving different results in many classes. Nippers - Harper, Keira, & Danny 50cc Beau #798 65cc Ben #580 Mini Wheels Lucy #34 85ccSW Declan #91 85cc BW Jack #151 A big thanks to the parents, marshals and officials for yet another great day. Our next event on the Calendar is Sutherland Minikhana Interclub held on Sunday 17th September. Please check the website & also facebook page for details on how to register for this event. Following that we also have the MX Twin Series with KMW coming up at our grounds on Sunday 24th September. We hope to see as many Hornsby riders at both these events as possible...Go Hornsby! |
