Thanks for observing our COVID-19 plan today Hornsby peeps. What a great practice day. Great weather, and fifty two riders who were keen to be back on the track. Including a raft of recent kick-starters. Welcome!
As George said in his briefing, do not forget to keep an eye on our calendar. It’s changing this year faster than you can say hotspot. Photos from today are up on Smugmug, our Club photo site. See you at the next events: Working Bee 🐝 on Saturday 19 Sept, and Practice Day 🌟 on Sunday 27 Sept. — Steve The weather was absolutely ideal for what was our 6th Kickstart Course for 2020. The cool winters morning paved the way for a beautiful sunny day.
We welcomed another 12 new riders to the club on various bikes from nippers on their 50cc bikes all the way up to 85cc machines. We powered through the theory and book work. As ever, everyone was super keen to get riding. Our demo riders Sam #150 and Beau #98 did a great job of demonstrating the correct techniques of riding. All the kickstarters were very competent at riding which made for lots of fun and lots of riding. Such was the skill that only one rider knocked one cone over when we set up our bending/slalom course, and that rider just happened to be a demo rider on a KTM, not mentioning any names.... Once we got out on to the mx track everyone cut plenty of laps. The parents armed themselves with yellow flags and had their first introduction to marshalling and keeping everyone safe. The smaller kids were really great to watch and were very comfortable mixing it with the bigger kickstarters. The track proved to be quite dry and dusty, it’s amazing how much it’s transformed in just a few weeks when at the last kickstart the puddles played havoc with the little bikes. All participants passed the course with flying colours, picked there new race numbers and checked out the club jerseys. That was more than likely the last kickstart course until December 2020 where we will start the process again in preparation for (hopefully a more ‘normal’) 2021. Photos at hjdbc.smugmug.com —Rod |
