13 Proud Hornsby members represented our club on Sunday 14th June, when they entered into the fourth Regional event of the year at the Ku-Ring-Gai Miniwheels (KMW) Training Club, St Ives Showgrounds.
KMW always run a different regional to the rest of the remaining clubs in the series, by conducting a trials event rather than minikhana. For those of you that do not know what this entails, basically riders contest a series of small, natural terrain courses, testing rider and bike skill. The aim of the event is to transverse the natural features of the small set course without putting your foot down or dropping your bike. 'Demerit Points' are awarded for every time a rider 'foots' or 'leans' on something to stabilise themselves and the bike. The rider in their class with the least amount of demerit points wins. It can be a very challenging type of riding, especially for those riders that are starting out in the sport and are yet to develop the skill's needed to control their bike over undulating terrain. However, out of the 13 riders that attended, the following riders rode well enough to make it onto the podium: 2nd 50cc Auto A Grade: Ben #580 2nd Miniwheels C Grade: Ryan #90 3rd 85cc SW B Grade: Ella #855 1st 85cc SW B Grade: Indy #13 The Hornsby club snatched 4th overall for the day showing the consistency and talent of our wonderful little club. Well done to all of those that attended and for supporting KMW in their quest to keep their grounds and provide somewhere for their riders to continue developing their motorbike skills. This weekend, Sunday 21st June, will see the final round of the Bi-Series Minicross competition between Hornsby and KMW clubs at our home grounds. Parking will be tight so please follow directions from officials on the day for parking allocation and don't be afraid to squeeze up. The day will consist of rounds of Minicross all day long, so if you like racing around our motocross track, this event is for you. Regis Comments are closed.
