![]() Sunday 7th May saw the first round of the MX twin series between HJDBC and Mt Kuringai hosted by the Hornsby club. The Hornsby grounds were looking as good as ever thanks to the previous days working bee and also the track maintenance by Aron and his trusty bobcat. To top things off we had a sprinkle of rain the night before to help settle the dust atleast for the first part of the day. After bbq breaky and riders briefing kids were ready and raring to go and enjoy some friendly rivalry out on the minicross track. The nippers got the day underway first as they tested the freshly groomed track, this was closely followed by the 50cc autos showing some great skill at the start line. Next up were the Mini-wheel racers with 5 keen competitors. Once again the largest group of the day, the 65cc's enjoyed the competitive nature of mini-cross but showed great companionship cheering each other on and sharing encouraging words on and off the track. The 85's concluded the event and as always put on a good show with their riding experience evident. Each class squeezed 5 races in for the day stopping for another bbq at lunchtime (Thanks again to the chefs!). With 3 lap heats and sandy conditions the racing was kept very close and a number of riders got caught out as the track conditions were constantly changing. All in all it was an action packed day and great entertainment for the spectators. Hornsby riders were good enough to accumulate enough points to win outright on the day. Let’s see if we can keep the momentum going for Rnd 2 which is coming up later in September. Presentations followed and the following Hornsby riders made it onto the podium: Nippers: Sienna, Summer, Danny, 1st 50cc Auto – Beau #798 3rd 50cc Auto – Charlie #23 1st Miniwheels – Kai #04 2nd Miniwheels – Jacob #19 3rd Miniwheels – Lucy #34 1st 65cc - Noah #936 2nd 65cc – Jack #170 3rd 65cc – Ben #580 2nd 85cc SW – Liam #86 3rd 85cc SW – Sam #279 1st 85cc BW - Ella #855 2nd 85cc BW – Brad #25 3rd 85cc BW – Oliver #628 As always a day like this doesn't just happen. Lots of hard work from the Hornsby club committee members went into preparing the day and this was evident by the success of the day. Also a special thanks to all our key officials on the day as well as all marshalls and parents for making the day a success. Details for our next event are Blacktown Regional Sunday 14th May…..Check Out the action pics HERE! Comments are closed.
