The second and final round of the 2015 Minicross Interclub competition between Hornsby and Ku-Ring-Gai (KMW) took place at the Hornsby grounds on Sunday 21st June. A partly cloudy day with a few light drizzle patches threatened early in the morning but too many smiles from riders kept any heavy showers at bay.
The previous day, the track had been groomed and was looking in some of the best condition it has for a number of years. Heavier rain in the middle of the week leading up to the event had left parts of the track muddy and slippery but for the most part it was sandy and fast. After a thorough riders briefing, the practice session got underway and the riders got their first look at the track. Not long after, some nice clean racing was underway with the first results funnelling in to the scorer. This series was contested over two days, with the first day being conducted at KMW's grounds earlier in the year and the second one at our Hornsby grounds. KMW have some great tracks that are in seperate areas of their compound unlike Hornsby's, which prevented as many races being run compared to KMW's day. None the less, riders got six races in with minimal disruptions and finished up around 3pm. Presentations followed and the following Hornsby riders made it onto the podium: 3rd 50cc Auto - Ben #580 1st 50cc Auto - Will #693 3rd Miniwheels - Jack #26 1st Miniwheels - Declan #91 =3rd 65cc - Noah #936, Jack #15 3rd 85cc SW - Ella #855 3rd 85cc BW - Jassie #222 1st 85cc BW - Matt #262 Unfortunately due to the overall series points score that wasn't quite enough for Hornsby to take out the series, that honour went to Ku-Ring-Gai Miniwheels Club. Congratulations to all their riders for riding so well and taking them to the overall win. We look forward to continuing the rivalry next year. Special thanks to all our key officials on the day as well as all marshall's and parents for making the day a success. We have a small mid year break at the club now during the school holidays but are planning a coaching day in early July before round 5 of the club championship mid way through July. Please keep checking back for details of scheduled meets. Comments are closed.
