Last Sunday 11th September saw the second last round of the year with Series 2 Round 4 held. The weather was perfect and almost 30 riders showed up to enjoy the day's events. What a great turn out! With last week's kick start clinic held at the club we had a number of new young riders join the crew today which made a total of nine eager young nippers ready to roll and after riders briefing riders began to make their way down to the designated event areas. We had 8 events planned for the day: Orange, Bending, Ring return, Accelr8, Footing clover & Non footing clover and of course Minicross. As this was the second last round of the series every point counted towards the final championship points so the purple flag was put to use more than usual as riders protested the marshal's decisions and showed their passion for winning. While the bigger classes battled it out for points and practiced their skills things were slightly less intense in the demo class as the young riders were given the opportunity to practice on the event areas and learn some of the techniques needed to compete in minikhana. With the temperature warming up a well earned break was due and riders and marshals alike enjoyed another successful bbq, apparently the burgers were a hit! The second riders briefing prepared riders to hit the mini-cross track for the second last time this season to continue adding points to their tally. Some riders were also keen to put to use some coaching they received from the Race Pace clinic held at our club recently. There were a few hairy moments and near misses on the track which was a little dryer and dustier than we have seen over the last few months but the HJDBC sportsmanship was shown after each race. Results for the day were as follows: 50cc Auto - 1st Jack #170 Miniwheels - 1st Jack #7 65cc - 1st Noah#936 85cc - 1st Will #48, and 85cc JBW - 1st Ella #855 Well done to all riders who competed on the day and to all of our wonderful marshals for their time spent out in the bush. The next event on the calendar is the Sutherland Regional Minikhana on the 18th Septemberheld at the this Sunday 18th September. We look forward to seeing plenty of Hornsby members attend.
