Do you remember when we did Series 1, Round 1? Pre COVID lock-down. It was 23 Feb, when 52 riders competed for points on a bright but overcast day. Believe it. Here we are five months later - 2 August - and have just had a huge Round 2.
62 riders came out to enjoy the sunshine: about 10 more Nippers than in Feb. Welcome to the future of our club! After some serious words about COVID, riders hit the track to test their skills and have some fun. Congratulations to the class place getters (1st, 2nd, 3rd):
Results from the Results page. Photos at hjdbc.smugmug.com as usual. Club calendar via the Calendar page. Great day of coaching from Michel and Johnno from facebook.com/RacePaceMX at HJDBC’s track. Great weather; lots of new techniques! Photos at hjdbc.smugmug.com as usual.
Forty Seven Riders, including twelve Nippers, enjoyed fabulous weather for our second Practice Day post COVID shut-down. Judging by the smiles, we enjoyed ourselves. Minikhana, MiniCross and Enduro today ... action packed. Photos at hjdbc.smugmug.com as usual. Enjoy.
July has arrived Hornsby peeps and with it a return to our track. We had a huge turnout to our first practice day for Minikhana in the morning (Orange, Ring Return, Slow, Accelerate and Brake and Clover) and MiniCross in the afternoon. The weather was fab-o, the track pristine (after so many working bees) and the riders keen. Was great to see so many happy faces.
Thanks to all for doing the right thing COVID-wise, and don't forget to keep an eye on the calendar here - things can change. Photos from the day are in our Smugmug site here, as usual. --Steve It’s coming Hornsby peeps, HOPEFULLY WE’LL BE BACK ON THE TRACK IN JULY. Your committee is wading thru the plentiful comms from the NSW Gov and MSNSW, and planning out the what and how. Likely there’ll be a couple more WORKING BEES between now and then. Stay tuned.
Wayne Broady was a member of HJDBC in his younger years and his son Sean was also a member from 2014 to 2018. This is an article that Wayne himself has written about his recent ordeal and it's been published in the latest edition of Australasian Dirt Bike Magazine (April). Have a read of his article here...it's an amazing story and the HJDBC family are very glad we could contribute to his recovery. Hopefully this will encourage others to register as donors to help save more lives. Here's the link: https://donatelife.gov.au/ Well..well..well....... We’re back!!
Amazing work today riders in very tough conditions. Hornsby won the day overall by percentage and we won most podium points. Thanks to all mums dads and the committee for giving it all you have. -- Jo Photos will be available in Smugmug as usual . -- Steve
Who’d have thunk it … The Kick Starters had fabulous weather for dirt biking on Saturday, and that afternoon, you’d have thought we were in line for more of the same for our second practice day Sunday. But no; the alarm clock heralded a huge downpour that lubricated the car packing exercise, and then was on and off for the rest of the day.
Of course, these machines are not called clean bikes … and the Hornsby family set to to get some practice in. Event area 1 hosted Looping and Bending; Slow was delightfully slow; Accelerate and Brake was fun in the mud; (Wet) Footed Clover was challenging; Mini-cross was a blast with up to 12 on the track and puddles galore; and enduro got a look in again too. The Nippers sampled a bit of most, with some coaching thrown in. Hard to see under those helmets, but pretty sure there were a lot of smiles today. Welcome to those new to the Hornsby family who were having their first Hornsby day today. Lovely to welcome new members to the club. Many thanks to Karen and Kristen for sorting the canteen, and to the Marklew family for their kind donation of sausages for today’s feast. Thanks to Rod and Beau for assistance with the impromptu nippers clinic today. Photos on Smugmug as usual. Note the change to the Smugmug home page … a new carolsel at the top of the page randomises through the latest posts. Galleries follow. A post about Saturdays’s kick start follows below. Next event is the BHJMTC interclub on Sunday 15th March. Gonna be a hoot! — Steve |
