Round 3 got off to a flying start with a good number of regular riders turning up for the days event aswell as some new members all looking eager to get amongst the days competition and test out the track. A total of 8 events were planned and once again the competition was set to be fierce between certain classes & riders especially now that we are more than half way through the final series of the year. Sign on/scruitineering and riders briefing was all out of the way by 9.30 sharp and riders commenced the usual routines of the roped events with the inclusion of a slightly lesser known event 'clover ring return' which proved to be challenging but also fun for many of the riders and marshals alike. We also had a special guest on Sunday with the return of Jonno #911 who was there to help out and show the new members the ropes and how to master the minicross track. After a fantastic lunch, yet again, it was time to settle the scores on the minicross track. Four lap races meant it would go down to the final lap and in both races a couple of the classes did just that! Some great riding from all classes provided riveting spectating and as always the riders showed sportsmanship both on and off the track. The incredible riding and passion for competition and fun from all riders was displayed throughout the day which gave the new families who were visiting for the day an insight into our great little club. Results for the day were as follows: 50cc Auto - 1st Ben #580 Miniwheels - 1st Jack #7 65cc - 1st Levi #765 85cc SW - 1st Jack #151, and 85cc BW - 1st Ella #855 Well done to all riders who competed on the day and to all of our wonderful marshals for their time spent out in the bush. We look forward to seeing everyone again at our next event which is Rnd 4 on Sunday 11th Sept. Gates open at 8am. Unlike our own regional event at JT where the heavens opened, JT were lucky to have a glorious sunny day perfect for riding! A small contingent of 7 Hornsby riders joined the other 120 riders from fellow Minikhana clubs to take part in the days competition. Our riders had some tough competition in the 6 events (Orange, Bending, Accelerate and Brake, Ring Clover, Ring Return and Minicross) held, It was the first Interclub event for Jack #170 in A Grade who joined fellow member Ben #580 which saw both of them with some hard heats draws with tough competition, Ben was successful with a 1st place in Minicross and Accelerate and Brake. In the 65cc Class Will #693 also had some hard battles but was successful in getting a 3rd overall for day and saw him on the podium. Our biggest success for the day was Will #48 with a 1st overall for 85cc B Grade a great result with 3 x 1st and 2 x 2nd for the day, Well Done Will #48 you rode great and will now proceed to A Grade for his efforts. Hornsby finished 5th overall for the day with JT taking top honours. Thank-you to our other riders who came and represented the club you all did us proud! Next and final club regional is Sutherland PCYC in September followed by the State Titles to be hosted by JT in October! Go Hornsby! After quite a bit of wet weather across the Sydney region over the past week Sunday shaped up to be a great day for some exciting Minikhana action and with a large turnout of HJDBC riders and a track in near perfect condition the day was set to be fun and entertaining for everyone involved! After the MX round last weekend riders were ready to battle it out again for the second round of the final series of the year. Points were close and podium positions were bound to be a surprise in some classes at the end of the day. After yet another fantastic BBQ lunch consisting of snags and gourmet burgers, it was time to get down to business on the minicross track. Four lap heats and 3 lap finals allowed for a good amount of riding throughout the afternoon. Although the track was initially nice and grippy it didn’t take long for the ruts and braking bumps to appear along with a couple of very muddy sections for the riders to negotiate. Results for the day were as follows: 50cc Auto - 1st Ben #580 Miniwheels - 1st Jack #7 65cc - 1st Will #693 85cc - 1st Brad #25, and Junior Big Wheels - 1st Ella #855 Well done to all riders who competed on the day and once again a huge thanks to the wonderful volunteer helpers for their time spent in creating another successful riding day for our kids.
